We are looking for a proactive, customer-focused Field Automation & Instrumentation Solutions Engineer. In this role, you will be the direct interface between advanced industrial technologies and customer manufacturing facilities. You will travel to diverse client plants to understand root-cause operational pain points, troubleshoot field instrumentation and PLC/IIoT networks, commission systems, and consultatively recommend high-impact plant modernization upgrades (such as IO-Link architectures, IoT Edge gateways, and smart sensors).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. On-Site Technical Diagnostics & Commissioning
- Travel to customer plant sites for troubleshooting, wiring inspection, calibration, and commissioning of automation and field instrumentation.
- Perform hands-on diagnostics on PLC Digital/Analog I/O (PNP/NPN sourcing & sinking), 4–20 mA current loops, and 2-wire / 4-wire transmitters.
- Configure and verify serial and industrial Ethernet networks including Modbus RTU (RS485 daisy-chaining & termination) and Modbus TCP/IP.
- Deploy and troubleshoot IO-Link master systems, digital smart sensors, and IoT Edge Gateways
- communicating via MQTT / REST API.
- Diagnose and eliminate signal anomalies, including VFD electrical noise interference, cable shield grounding loops, and loose terminations.
B. Client Relationship & Consultative Solutioning
- Meet plant managers, maintenance heads, and process engineers on-site; actively uncover machine bottlenecks and recurring breakdown patterns.
- Investigate beyond superficial symptoms to identify true root causes (e.g., process variations, piping vibration, or incorrect sensor specifications).
- Consultatively propose plant modernization opportunities, sensor upgrades, and Bill of Materials (BOM) retrofits that improve uptime and throughput.
- Translate complex technical issues into plain, business-oriented value explanations for non-technical stakeholders and commercial decision-makers.
